Religious and sacred art: Recent psychological perspectives

The psychology of art has had an enormous development since the middle last century; however, no much work been done in association with religious and sacred art. This paper aims to provide a brief history use images three great monotheistic religions, i.e., Judaism, Christianity, Islam.All religions have influenced by commandment (Exodus, 20:4), which prohibits idolatry. Nevertheless, when it comes content, is interpreted differently three. If Judaism Islam not particularly widespread bound precise conditions, Christianity strong relationship visual arts developed, at least until Reformation. After this split, was only encouraged Catholic Church even though, Enlightenment, suffered decline culture.It twentieth twenty-first centuries that returned support encourage context. It will then be necessary distinguish between because they serve different functions. Precisely field deepening possible, could very interesting for study perception images, example investigating constructs associated vitality aesthetic judgment.
